Copper Theft Suspect Arrested 8/3/2010 6:37:26 PM
Sheriff’s detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Robert Glenn Monday, 42, of Ft. White after he was identified as the suspect in surveillance photographs. The thefts occurred at Florida Rock in Bushnell on June 22 and June 29, 2010. The Sumter warrant charges Monday with Burglary and Grand Theft. Monday was arrested by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office on July 30, 2010. In addition to the Sumter charges, Monday was also charged with Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, Grand Theft (Motor Vehicle), Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and a Columbia County, Florida warrant charging him with Grand Theft. The investigation continues as detectives work to identify a second suspect involved in the thefts. Sheriff's Special Investigations Squad Make Drug Arrests 7/22/2010 11:14:28 AM
The Sheriff’s Special Investigations Squad continued to arrest drug offenders during undercover operations. On July 21, 2010, undercover drug operations continued with additional arrests being made. Arrested were Lamar Worthen III, 38, of Wildwood and Norma Jean Vazquez, 35, of Bushnell after each sold and delivered narcotics to undercover operatives during operations in the Wildwood and Bushnell areas of Sumter County. Lamar Worthen III has been charged with Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Sell within 1000 feet, Sale of Cocaine within 1000 feet, Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Radio Device, and Violation of Probation. At the time of his arrest, Worthen was on 10 years probation from a previous arrest for selling cocaine. He is being held at the Sumter County Detention Center without bond. Norma Jean Vazquez has been charged with Possession of Marijuana over 20 grams, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sale, two counts of Keeping a Drug Conveyance, Sale of Marijuana, and Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Radio Device. Her bond was set at $29,500 dollars.

Sexual Battery Arrest 7/22/2010 9:16:48 AM
Charles Coleman, 33, of Bushnell was arrested on this date by Sumter sheriff’s detectives and charged with Sexual Battery Upon a Person Less than 12 Years of Age, Cultivation of Marijuana and Driving While License Suspended or Revoked. The 10 year old victim reported being victimized while visiting a family member in Citrus County. The incident was reported to the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office on July 15, 2010 and it was referred to Sumter County detectives on July 16, 2010. The victim was interviewed at Jessie’s Place, a child advocacy center in Citrus County, where he detailed being sodomized on at least one occasion by the suspect at a Bushnell residence. Sheriff’s detectives located Charles Coleman driving on CR 575 where it was determined that his driver’s license had been suspended for failing to pay child support. At the residence, detectives found a marijuana plant, approximately 5 feet tall, growing by the front porch. During an interview at the Criminal Investigations Division, Coleman admitted to detectives his involvement. He is being held at the Sumter County Detention Center without bond. The agency’s victim advocate is coordinating services being provided to the victim and his family.

 

Sexual Battery Arrest 7/22/2010 9:15:14 AM
Anthony Shelt, 44, of Bushnell was arrested by sheriff’s detectives on this date and charged with two counts of Sexual Battery Upon a Person less than 12 years of age and one count of Cultivation of Marijuana. The victims are ages 10 and 7. Shelt sodomized the 10 year old and performed oral sex on the 7 year old within the past two weeks at a Bushnell residence. The investigation was initiated after a report was filed with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office on July 15, 2010 and it was referred to Sumter detectives on July 16, 2010. The victim was interviewed at Jessie’s Place, a child advocacy center in Citrus County, where the abuse was disclosed to investigators. release. Sumter detectives discovered a marijuana plant, approximately 5 feet tall, at the residence when they attempted contact. The plant was growing in plain view by the front porch of the residence. Shelt was located nearby and arrested without incident. Shelt was delivered to the Sumter County Detention Center on the aforementioned charges and is being held without bond. The Sheriff’s victim advocate is coordinating services provided to the victims and their family.

 

Drug Arrest 7/22/2010 9:13:35 AM
The Sheriff’s Special Investigations Squad arrested Frank Vicchiullo, 36, of Bushnell on drug related charges on July 20, 2010. During a three week undercover drug operation, he sold and delivered Oxycodone to an undercover operative in the parking lot of a Bushnell restaurant and once in a public park. Vicchiullo is subject to enhanced penalties since the transactions occurred within 1000 feet of a qualified business and public park. After being arrested, Vicchiullo was taken to the Sumter County Detention Center. He is charged with 3 counts Possession with Intent to Sell a Controlled Substance, 3 counts Sale of a Controlled Substance, 3 counts Keeping a Drug Conveyance, and one count Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His bond was set at $182,000 dollars.
