Community Watch

December 4, 2016, the Sumter County Sheriff's Office hosted an open meeting for anyone in the county that is interested in organizing a community watch program in their area. The citizens of this county are our most vital resource in solving and preventing crime. Please join us for this meeting to get informed, get involved, and get excited about improving the quality of life in your own neighborhoods.

We had two meetings in an effort to accomodate as many people as possible. Topics discussed were:

  • How to organize your neighborhood watch
  • The purpose and responsibilities of your chapter
  • Relations between the Sheriff's Office and your chapter
  • Question and answer session
  • The open meetings have passed, for infomation regarding community watch in your neighborhood please email  volunteer@sumterso.org or contact Deputy Rappleyea at 352-569-1600.
