Sumter County Florida Sheriff's Office

School Resource Officers

The S.R.O. Division is made up of nine specialized deputies who work with the Sumter County School Board. Sumter County has an officer assigned to the high schools, the middle schools and two deputies share the elementary schools; in addition, the Sheriffs Office has two truancy officers who are part of this division. The School Resource Officers' duties include crime prevention, safety and Law Enforcement programs related to school classes. These deputies also work with and assist school officials with problems relating to safety and juvenile delinquency. They also assist school officials in counseling students and/or parents when requested. The School Resource Officers' goal is to help maintain a safe learning environment at every school campus. We strive to be a role model, helping students attain their graduating goals.
