Sumter County Florida Sheriff's Office

UNIFORM PATROL DIVISION

Uniform Patrol Division

The Uniform Patrol Division is the backbone of the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office providing around the clock law enforcement service.
The County is currently divided into four districts, the Villages district, North district, Central district and the South district.  Each district is assigned a Patrol Lieutenant who is responsible for all law enforcement activity in their district.  District Lieutenants ensure that all calls for service are answered in a timely manner and that the service provided meets the Sheriff’s level of professionalism.

Uniform Patrol deputies are assigned to zones inside each district patrolling the unincorporated areas of the County.  Each shift of deputies is supervised by a sergeant who constantly monitors and directs the deputies’ actions.
Patrol Deputies duties include traffic enforcement, conducting initial criminal investigations, provide a visual law enforcement presence in business areas and neighborhoods as well as other vital law enforcement services to the community.
